# Banger

> Banger is company email your AI runs. It is an email system for your company, operated by the AI assistant or agent you already use (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok, or your own) through a remote MCP server and a REST API, with a web app where people review, edit, and approve what agents prepare. Banger is made by BangerMail Inc.

## What Banger is

- One system for company email: hosted mailboxes on your own domain (or a Banger-hosted starter address), product and transactional email sent from your software, Broadcasts (one-off sends to a list or segment), Journeys (automated lifecycle flows, from a one-step welcome to multi-branch sequences), contacts, lists, segments, signup forms, templates and on-brand email designs, sending domains and deliverability, Approvals, and Logs.
- Three surfaces over the same workspace state: the MCP server for AI agents (https://api.bangermail.com/mcp), the REST API for code (https://api.bangermail.com), and the web app for people (https://app.bangermail.com/).
- Who it is for: founders, solo builders, and small teams running products on their own domain who want their AI assistant to set up and run company email, while a person reviews what matters.
- Setup: sign up free at https://app.bangermail.com/. Onboarding creates a Banger-hosted mailbox and proves a real send-and-receive round trip before it asks about a domain; adding your own domain gives you the exact DNS records and a verification the agent can run.

## Connect an AI assistant (MCP)

- Auth: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (S256) and dynamic client registration. Protected resource metadata: https://api.bangermail.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp. Authorization server metadata: https://api.bangermail.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server. Unauthenticated requests get 401 with a WWW-Authenticate header pointing at the resource metadata.
- Clients that cannot do OAuth can send a workspace API key as a Bearer token to the same endpoint.

### Claude

1. Choose Add to Claude. Claude opens with Banger already filled in.
2. Choose Continue, then Connect.
3. Sign in to Banger and approve your workspace.

1. Add Banger as a persistent user-scope server.
2. Log in once; the token is stored by Claude Code.

### ChatGPT

1. Turn on Developer mode in Settings → Security and login.
2. Open Plugins, select +, name it Banger and paste the MCP URL.
3. Authorize Banger for your workspace.

Once Banger is listed in the ChatGPT directory, it will be one Connect click.

### Codex

1. Add the server; Codex detects OAuth automatically.
2. Log in; the browser opens the Banger authorization page.

Codex CLI, the Codex app, and its IDE extensions share one configuration, so Banger appears in all of them.

### Grok

1. On grok.com open Connectors, choose New Connector, then Custom.
2. Paste the MCP URL as the server URL.
3. Approve the authorization page when Grok opens it.

### Cursor and any other MCP client

1. Add a remote Streamable HTTP server at the MCP URL.
2. Pick OAuth. Discovery, registration, and PKCE need no manual setup.
3. Approve the authorization page and choose the workspace.

Cursor: add a server in Cursor's MCP settings (mcp.json) with the URL below; Cursor handles the OAuth sign-in.

- Auth: `Authorization: Bearer <workspace API key>`. Create keys in the Banger app under Settings → Developers → Manage API keys; choose the scopes the key needs. Keys start with `bgr_` and are shown once.

- Responses wrap results in `{ data }` and errors in `{ error: { code, message } }`. Send `Idempotency-Key` where an operation lists it.

Every plan has unlimited contacts, mailboxes, domains and teammates, plus Broadcasts, Journeys, Triage and the API and MCP for your agents.

Free is free forever. No credit card. Upgrade only when you send or store more. Every email counts the same: marketing, product and mailbox. On Free, sends beyond the daily cap go out the next day. On paid plans, sends beyond your monthly allowance are refused until the allowance renews or you upgrade. We may pause sending that looks like spam or abuse.

## Safety model

- Scoped OAuth: the authorization page shows the exact scope set, capped by the person's role, for one workspace. Scopes: `mail:read`, `mail:write`, `mail:send`, `contacts:read`, `contacts:write`, `campaigns:read`, `campaigns:write`, `campaigns:send`, `automation:read`, `automation:execute`, `connections:read`, `connections:use`, `connections:admin`, `workspace:admin`. Grants can be revoked in Banger under Settings → Agents.
- Human Approvals: Banger always asks a person to approve certain actions, such as activating a Journey or publishing shared content. Sending, launching a Broadcast, and other governed actions follow the workspace approval policy: where it requires review, the agent proposes and a person approves in Banger. Agents and workspace API keys cannot approve.
- Workspace-wide suppression: every Broadcast and Journey email carries one-click unsubscribe (RFC 8058). Unsubscribes, hard bounces, and spam complaints are suppressed across the whole workspace, and later sends to those addresses are refused.
- Boundaries and audit: workspaces are company boundaries and products are strict email boundaries inside them. Governed mutations use idempotency keys, and every action lands in Logs.
