Mailboxes

Labels and Triage

Label mail automatically and let AI rules skip the inbox, mark as read, or star new mail, described in plain words.

In this guide 6 sections

Open a mailbox’s ⋯ menu and choose Labels or Triage. Both describe mail in plain words, like “invoices from suppliers”, and AI decides what matches. Add filters (from, to, subject, words, attachment) to narrow it down.

Labels

Choose New label. Turn on Auto-apply to new mail and describe which mail it’s for. Or Start with ready-made labels.

Gmail labels show in a From Gmail section. They’re read-only, and Banger labels don’t sync back to Gmail.

Triage rules

A rule says which mail, and what happens to it:

  • Skip the inbox
  • Mark as read
  • Star it
  • Add a label

Start from a recipe: cold pitches, customers who need help, newsletters, or automatic notices. Test on recent mail shows what a rule would catch before you turn it on.

Past mail

Rules act on new mail. Run on past mail with Also label the last 30 days adds labels to older mail. It never moves, marks as read, or stars older mail.

Fix a mistake

In recent activity, choose Not this on anything a rule got wrong. It’s undone, and the rule learns from it.

Limits

  • 50 rules per mailbox, and 50 active rules and auto-labels per workspace.
  • Each new email a rule checks counts as one run. Free includes 100 a month, Starter 1,000, Pro 5,000, Business 25,000, Scale 100,000. When runs run out, mail stays unsorted until the next month.

Try it with your AI

In support@, label anything about billing as “Billing”, skip the inbox for newsletters, and star anything asking for a refund.
