Frequency limits and delivery windows

Stop people from getting too many emails, and only deliver during the hours and days you choose.

One project-wide policy controls how often a person can hear from you, and when. Open Settings › Email defaults › Contact frequency and delivery windows.

Settings

  • Minimum time between messages: for example, 60 minutes between any two emails to the same person.
  • Frequency caps: up to 8, like “3 emails per 24 hours” or “10 per week”.
  • Delivery window: a start and end time, a time zone, and the days allowed. With no days checked, every day is allowed.
  • When messages conflict: Send later holds the email until it’s allowed. Discard the later message drops it.

Choose Save communication policy. Each save is a new version.

What it applies to

  • Journey emails and API sends: yes.
  • Broadcasts: yes, per recipient.
  • Urgent product emails (receipts, verification, security, required notices) skip frequency limits, but still respect delivery windows.

Test it first

Choose Simulate policy to see what would happen to a given person and message before you save.

Try it with your AI

Set our policy to at most 3 marketing emails per week per person, delivered between 8:00 and 20:00 New York time on weekdays, and simulate it for my last Broadcast.
