Languages and automatic translation

Write once, and each contact gets your email in their language. How translation works, when it runs, and what happens if it isn't ready.

In this guide 6 sections

You write each email once. Banger translates it with AI into each recipient’s language, automatically, on every plan.

Set your languages

Open Settings › Email defaults, pick the project, and find Email language:

  • Emails are written in: the language you write in.
  • Translate ahead (optional): languages to translate as soon as you save, so they’re ready before you send.
  • Time zone: used for dates and times in emails when a contact has none.

Choose Save language settings. Changes apply to new emails.

The app’s own language is separate: Settings › General › Display language.

Who gets which language

Each contact’s language field decides. It’s set by import, by a form with a fixed language, by your app, or by your AI. Banger doesn’t guess from browsers or names.

  • Contacts without a language, or in your writing language, get the original.
  • A regional variant of your language (en-GB when you write en-US) gets the original.

What gets translated, and when

  • Broadcasts: when you send, into every recipient language.
  • Journey emails and API sends: when each email is due.
  • Shared layouts: with the emails that use them.
  • Translate ahead languages: as soon as you save.

Banger uses your product’s terms consistently across translations.

If a translation isn’t ready

Nobody gets the wrong language. Instead:

  • Broadcasts send to everyone else right away. Others get it as soon as their translation is ready. After 24 hours, anyone still waiting is skipped.
  • Journey and API emails wait. Urgent emails (receipts, verification, security) wait about a minute, others up to 24 hours. Then the email isn’t sent.

Review shows Translating to …, Ready in N languages, or A translation needs attention with Retry translations.

Check a translation

In the email editor, the language menu previews each translation. To change one, ask your AI to correct it. There’s no translation editor in the app.

Try it with your AI
